A RECORD was broken in Tarporley AC's match at the little mill pool.

Michael Pinnington set the new standard for a Tarporley match with a 61-15-0 catch to win. Ian Roberts was runner-up with 23-3-8 and Roy Garton submitted 13-0-0 for third.

The Thursday evening match at the same venue was won by Rob Harding with quality bream for 21-8-8, eclipsing Ian Roberts's 6-3-8 and Richard Nelson's 5-4-0.

Dave Woodworth won both matches at Lingmere Fishery.

He took the Thursday match with 89-12-0, beating Steve Openshaw into second on 74-8-0 and Steve Balsom third with 60-0-0.

Woodworth then placed 74-14-0 on the scales to claim the Saturday match, Balsom coming second this time with 48-14-0 and Phil Ashdown (42-9-0) third.

Malpas AC fished on club waters when Alan Jones won with roach and tench weighing 7-12-0, more than Bert Roberts with 4-14-0 and David Jones with 4-12-0.

Nick Jones's gargantuan 128-0-0 catch won the Lavister AC match at Cheshire Fishery with 128-0-0, dwarfing Barry Gabriel's 57-5-0 and Steve Barwise with 48-12-0.

Their top senior citizen was Eric Randles with 4-2-0.

Martin Beresford won the Piper AC match at Milton Green Fishery with a mixed 8-7-0 ahead of Jim Conde with 3-0-0 and Rob White on 6-14-0.

Tony Churchill was top rod in Willaston AC's open match on the Shady Oak length of the Shropshire Union Canal at Beeston. On caster he took bream for 4-0-0 on his way to 40-9-8. Trevor Jackson was next best with bream and roach for 12-10-0 with Chris Morris on 10-14-0.

The club is running an open match tomorrow at Waverton. It will take place on the Shropshire Union Canal and will be drawn in the lay-by at 8.30am. Entry is £10 and bloodworm and jokers are banned. To book call 0151 606 8315.

Chester and Ellesmere Port Police AC's match was won by Alan Roberts with carp and skimmers weighing 49-12-0 on the beech pool at Burton Mere Fishery. Mark Greasley came in with 38-0-0 and Neil Jukes with 27- 0-0.

The Tuesday Rovers AC match on long island pool at Hampton Springs Fishery was won by Gregg Roberts.

A haul of carp weighing 52-6-0 beat Shaun Sandham with 49-13-0 and Kevin Williams on 40-8-0.

Rob Parker was the victor in Upton AC's match on the bridge pool at Heronbrook Fishery. A bag of 30-8-0 silverfish gave him the edge over Paul Rose with 24-8-0 and Dave Wilcocks's 23-0-0.
