SWIMMING: City of Chester club swimmers collected medals at the Northern Counties long course championships in Manchester.

Jason Boylan, 15, swam in five events and secured a bronze medal in the 400m individual medley, clocking four minutes 58.92 seconds, a national qualifying time, to finish fourth in his age group.

Jamie Penny had personal best times in three events, collecting a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke to finish sixth overall, while Dan Siddle, 16, competed in four events.

Michelle Roberts, 14, was in the top six in both her events and her 800m front crawl time of 9:33:90 was just 0.05 off the national qualifying time.

Lauren Colville, 14, swam in six events and had a personal best time in the 200m breast-stroke, while Emma Haycocks, on her club debut, was second in the 200m backstroke and fourth in the 100m backstroke to finish fifth overall.

Sion Roberts, 15, swam in six events, finishing third in the 400m front crawl and fourth in her age group overall.
