FOUR tae kwon-do aces from Chester kicked and chopped their way to five medals at a national championships.

The fighters are based at Chester Global Tae Kwon-Do UK.

In the association’s British regional championships in Stratford-upon- Avon earlier this month, two sevenyear-olds led the pack. Yellow belt Connor Ellis won silver in sparring and blue stripe Alex Roberts scooped bronze in patterns and gold in sparring.

Adult yellow belts Paul Warren and Sarah Broadbent added to the haul, grabbing silver and bronze in sparring respectively.

Chief instructor Jon Emm, who has about 30 club members under his wing, said some of them – including a future international prospect – could not attend.

He added: “I see us getting better as we go on and hopefully get more of the students to take part.

“We’ve got three or four tournaments coming up in the first half of next year and we’re hoping we’ll get a few medals there too.”

Chester fighters helped the North West to a second place finish out of six, narrowly losing out to hosts the East Midlands.

They will now prepare for the North West Championships in January.
