PUPILS from the Queen's Park High School Rowing Club had to contend with a strong wind and rough water when they competed on the docks at Liverpool.

But despite the tricky conditions, rowers from the Chester school performed well at the Head of the Float event, hosted by Liverpool Victoria RC.

Queen's Park's J15 coxless quad - featuring Ozzie Ghobadi, Tom Young, Chris Thomas and Joe Rowlands - rowed in the J16 group celebrated a win.

Ozzie, Tom and Chris then joined Alex Ross and cox Sam Young to win the J15 quad race.

Of the WJ14 quads, the boat with Joy Roberts, Emma Clarke, Caroline Withers, Leah Morrow and cox M O'Brien-Manley came first.

The WJ13 and J13 boats were well represented, with Queen's Park's boys quad of Jonathon Cahill, Peter Young, J Fowles, Richard Pilling and cox Sam Young beating older crews on their way to victory.

Although the girls' WJ13 quad - comprising Danny Carter, Cara Jameson, Emma Sutherland, Tayler Dyke-Woods and cox Merika Holmes - were forced to remain on the water for a long period because two large ships entered the dock, they still won their group.
