GIRLS from Crewe and Nantwich Gym Club vaulted their way to medal success.

Seven girls and four boys, aged six to 11, from the outfit's development squad and recreational group took part in the Neston Sets competition in South Wirral.

All performed well, but Lucy Dodd stole the show with a gold medal in the vault and finishing second overall. Bethany Lawrie notched silver on the vault, while Ellie Cameron achieved a bronze from the same discipline.

A club spokeswoman said: 'For many of these gymnasts it was their first ever competition and they all performed to an excellent standard, which made all their coaches delighted.'

Meanwhile, Sandbach ace Nicole Watson has just been part of the Great Britain squad which attended a training camp in Kristiansand, Norway.

The 10-year-old, who became British Champion for her age last year, and her GB team-mates got some practice in alongside counterparts from the Norway Junior Squad, as part of her monthly sessions with the team. The trip was Nicole's second international trip, after she visited Tirrenia, Italy, last year.
