ANGLING: WENDY Locker was top rod in the Tuesday Rovers AC match on Milton Green Fishery.

Locker weighed in with carp to 7-0-0 for a massive total of 72-0-0.

That was enough to dwarf second-placed Gary Vincent's 47-0-0 and Chris Broadbent in third with 44-4-0.

The club's Thursday match, fished at the same venue, saw Kevin Williams win with carp weighing 55-0-0.

Chris Hughes was second with carp and barbel for a 46-8-0 total, with Martin Head third in 28-6-0.

Jeff Williams claimed victory in the Rake and Pickel AC match fished on the Red Lion length of the River Weaver.

With roach weighing 8-5-0, he out-fished Jimmy Page (6-5-0), and Jeff Edge and Dave Spencer (both 4-5-0).

There were only two weighers in Saturday's Holt and Farndon AC match on the River Dee at Holt, where Simon Loyley won with chub to weigh 15-0-0 to go clear of Ron Evans (3-12-0).

Ron was then top rod in the Grosvenor Estate AC pike match on the serpentine at Eaton Hall. With three pike up to 6-13-0, his total of 18-9-0 easily beat John Mort with 4-8-0 and his son Danny with a 1-8-0 fish.

Alan Dewhurst was way out in front in the Thursday open match on the Lingmere Fishery. A carp and chub catch gave him 57-8-0 and the lead over Steve Openshaw (19-6-0) and Lee Saville (15-2-0).

The winner of the fishery's Saturday match was Dave Randles Snr, who took a carp-based 43-10-0 to finish ahead of Ken Dooley (32-14-) and Martin Hurst (32-0-0).

Bob Asher turned in a top weight of 10-3-0 made up of roach, perch and skimmers to win the Airbus Broughton AC match on Patshull Park Lake at Cosford.

That was enough to beat Steve Norman (8-8-0) and Jason Rogers (8-2-0).

The Chester-based 'X-men' team finished seventh in the Crewe and District Winter League and are ninth in the overall standings.

Last Sunday they fished on the Shrop-shire Union Canal at Nantwich where Wayne Jevons won his section and took fifth on the day with 1-0-3 of gudgeon.

Jamie Hughes was a winner in the Rod 'n' Reel squad match on the Heronbrook Fishery. With carp up to 8-0-0, his 48-0-0 total beat Mel Jenkins (40-4-0) and Nicky Roberts (37-0-0).

Fisheries reports

Burton Mere: Matthew Barrett of Chester netted common carp of 11-8-0 and 9-0-0 plus a 20-4-0 mirror, all taken to maggot rings.
