ANGLING: CHESTER Tackle Locker moved into second place behind Wyche in the Crewe and District Summer League when they won Sunday's match on the SU Canal at Market Drayton.
Their top weighers were Phil Weaver with 5lbs 1 oz of skimmers and roach, Chris Morris with 4-10-0 and Mike Beaumont who had 2-13-0.
Willaston AC finished third to move into fourth spot, thanks to Jamie Hughes who won the match with 11-4-0 of bream, Brian Woods with 4-4-0 and Peter Nelson with 2-10-3.
Wendy Locker was 11th of 87 entrants in the NFA Ladies' Championship with five carp, with Ellesmere Port's Linda Cooke a few places behind, also with carp.
Steve Dean led at the end of the Lobol AC match at priory pool with 16-8-0 of skimmers and carp, ahead of Sid Robinson's 10-14-0 and Geoff Selby's 10-10-0.
A 4-4-0 bream and some rudd and tench earned victory for Paul Stockton in the Tarporley AS match at Little Mill pool, Cotebrook, on Sunday. His 10-14-0 was enough to beat Chris Butters' 9-2-0 of tench and rudd, with third place shared by Paul Roden and Richard Nelson with 7-2-0. Stockton completed a double when he was the only weigher in the final Monday night match at Oulton Mill pool, taking a 0-3-0 roach to clinch the series title.
Phil Roberts collected top spot in the Royal Mail AC match at Lingmere Fishery with 20lbs of carp and barbel, beating Ian Jones, who had 17-2-0 of carp, and Bob Carvelle and Mike Walsh with 13-14-0.
The Railway, Barrow AC fished Hickory Hollows lake and Colin Owen won with 15-8-0 of crucians ahead of Trevor Roberts's 8-4-0 and Alec Woods with 7lbs.
Roy Cowley took the honours at Rake & Pikel AC at Border Fishery with a carp-based 46-8-0, beating Dave Maddocks's 41-8-0 and Gary White's 21-8-0.
Shaun Sandham landed carp up to 14lbs for an impressive 66-12-0 to win the Tarvin Sands AC match on home waters. Phil Iball took 24-12-0 of carp and Bill Crimes and Alan Roberts had 21lbs.
Victory went to Peter Hindle in the Cheshire Police Flyfishers' match at Grafham Water with seven rainbows weighing 16-1-0, taken with a black and green lure. Paul Sutton was next with six fish for 16lbs, including the best of the day, a 3-9-0 rainbow, and Dave Allen had four fish for 9-12-0.
Barry Hawkswood landed top place in the Ellesmere Port British Legion AC match at Baden Hall Fishery with 23-10-0 of carp, ahead of Jimmy Grimes's 19lbs and Mike Pearson's 15-4-0.
Les Hall was the winner of the Neston Match Anglers' match at Hampton Springs with a carp-based 15-6-0.
Tony Buckley's catch of 7-11-0 of roach, dace and chub easily won the Blacon Sports & Social Club AC match on the Severn at Monkmoor, ahead of Benny Coleclough's 4lb chub and Fred Woods's 5-11-0, including a 5lbs bream.
Peter Canavan was top in the Rivacre AC match on the Weaver with 6-12-0 of roach and skimmers, in front of Billy Gore's 5-3-0 and Ian Brocklehurst's 5-8-0.
Victory in the Cheshire Police AC match on the marina length of the Weaver went to Mark Greasley with 15-8-0 of skimmers and roach. John Booth had 11-5-0 and Alan Roberts took 8-6-0.
Proof that the Dee continues to improve came with Dave Furlong's 34lbs bag of chub up to 3-10-0, roach up to 1lb and a brace of perch weighing 1-4-0 and 2lbs from beat six at Holt.
Steve Barwise was up front in the Lavister AC match at Milton Green with 33-4-0 of carp, well ahead of Martin Wedley's 19-12-0 and Geoff Atkins's 9-11-0. Top senior was Eric Randles with 2-15-0.
Pool five at Tattenhall's Cheshire Fishery produced a carp-based 17-3-0 for Tony Johnson to win the Piper AC match, ahead of Mike White's 12-10-0 of carp and Phil White's 11-12-0.
A 2-10-0 bream boosted Stewart Duncan's bag to 4-12-0, to win the Peg One AC match on the SU Canal at Waverton. Brian Woodall was next with 1-11-0 of bream and gudgeon with Glyn Maddocks third, 1-4-0.
John Booth was a narrow winner of the Chester Police AC match at Hampton Springs with a carp-based 23-15-0 from Mark Greasley with 23-8-0 and Ron Roberts who had 21lbs.
The Chairman's Trophy was the prize for the winner of the Upton AC Wednesday night series and at Cheshire Fishery it went to John Woodrow with 41-3-0 of small carp, from Rob Parker's 11-8-5 and Paul Paget's 9-8-0.
The club also fished their championship and doubles match at Hampton Springs where Martin Holding won with 36lbs of carp, barbel and bream from Mark Titchener's 34lbs and Brian Trow's 26-8-0. The doubles winners were Holding and Steve Andrews, 50-4-0.
FISHERIES NEWS Burton Mere: Tom McLennon, of Wirral, tempted a 31lbs catfish from the mere using luncheon meat.
Lake Hill: Eddie Wilkinson, of Little Neston, bagged their best fish of the week, a 14-8-0 rainbow to a ledgered worm, while Chester's Anthony Edwards coaxed a 6-8-0 rainbow to a black daddy longlegs.
Four Oaks: Teenager Andrew Wilkie, of Ellesmere Port, bagged 35lbs of carp, tench and roach to sweet-corn.
Grove: John Little, of Great Sutton, used floating bread to take a 14lbs mirror carp; Peter Bradley, of Ellesmere Port, netted nine carp up to 13-4-0; William Dodd, of Ellesmere Port, coaxed a 9lbs common carp to pellet; and Aaron Gill, of Chester, fished luncheon meat to take a 10lbs mirror carp.
Dearnford Hall: Ellesmere Port's Ken Holland fished a gold-headed damsel fly nymph to take an 8-3-0 rainbow.
Forest Hill: Junior angler Bernadette Rosedale, of Handbridge, fished worm to take a 2-11-12 rainbow.
