HOCKEY: A LARGE crowd at Tarporley saw an entertaining contest and a convincing victory by league leaders Ramblers.

They turned round at half-time 1-0 up with player-coach Matt Allen atoning for an earlier missed penalty stroke by converting a smartly-taken short-corner routine.

For periods, Ramblers' defence was under a certain amount of pressure but they always looked capable and retained another dean sheet.

The game was placed securely under their control with a well-taken strike by Jimmy Lewis from an oblique angle that surprised the Chester keeper.
