ATHLETICS: A QUARTET of West Cheshire AC members completed a tough course in Shropshire at the weekend.
Ken Begley, Andrew Clague, Mike Lamb, and Mary Radford tackled the third round of the North Wales Cross-Country League fixture held at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall.
Radford, in the ladies' two-lap race, was 64th.
In the men's race, which consisted of two small and three large laps, Begley achieved 18th position, Clague finished 31st and Lamb claimed 138th spot.
Two fixtures will be occupying WCAC members' attentions this weekend.
Road runners from the club will be heading for Capenhurst for the second round of the Borders Road Running League on Sunday (11am).
WCAC men's team will be attempting to retain first place in Division One after success in round one at Prestatyn.
The club's ladies will be attempting to build on their success in the opening round in Division Two and the veterans will be aiming to complete yet another hat-trick of victories in their competition.
WCAC's youngsters will be assembling at Stanney High School Sportshall on Sunday for the third round of the North West Sportshall League (1pm).
The club is in the chase for league final qualification in all six age-group competitions, and West Cheshire members are requested to gather no later than 12.15pm for Sunday's event.
Any WCAC U15 juniors wishing to compete in this season's North West Sportshall League campaign are being encouraged to attend training sessions at Monday at Bishops High Sportshall, Chester (7pm), or at Stanney High Sportshall on Wednesdays (7pm) and Saturdays (10am).
West Cheshire AC is organising an Open Junior Cross-Country Race Series at Whitby Park that will swing into action this month. Medals are up for grabs to the first three finishers in the races for U11, U13 and U15 boys and girls.
The four-round fixtures will be held on Saturdays, November 20, November 27, December 11 and January 8.
