KATHY Stringer, Nikki Meadows and Rebecca Craigie were involved in the most exciting race of the day at Northern Relay Championships on Sunday - and dramatically claimed a bronze medal for Vale Royal AC.
At the line only a few seconds separated the first seven runners and it was Rebecca's storming finish that moved Vale Royal up from seventh to third place.
Winsford-based Hartford High School pupils Kathy and Nikki (Verdin) have kept the team in contention finishing only four seconds behind the winners, Amber Valley, Yorkshire and two seconds behind Sale Harriers.
The event attracted 270 teams from the region.
