ANGLING: SIMON Langley was top rod in Saturday's Holt and Farndon AC match fished on the River Dee at Holt.

Drawing a peg on the sandbank above the bridge, Simon weighed in with all-chub for a 37-8-0 total to finish well clear of Dave Richards with dace for 7-8-0 and third-placed Ron Evans with 5-8-0 of chub.

Only one fish was caught in Sunday's Grosvenor Estate AC match fished on Eaton Hall's serpentine. It was netted by John Mort, who took a 5-2-0 pike to a plug bait.

The Willaston team just missed out in Saturday's Angling Times Super Cup series event fished on the Shropshire Union Canal at Waverton.

They finished runners up despite providing the top two weighers on the day.

These were Paul Edwards, who was the day's winner with 4-3 of gudgeon, and James Hughes with 3-4 of tiny roach and gudgeon.

On Sunday Willaston put in an average performance in the Jack Purchase Winter League fished on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Maghull.

The club finished eighth on the day and their top weighers were Keith Wilson (4-0-0) and Phil Cross (1-8-0).

Dave Randles Snr netted top spot in the Thursday open match at the Lingmere Fishery.

With carp and chub to weigh 16-0-0, he had the edge over Steve Openshaw with more carp for 14-4-0 and John Armour on 14-0-0.

Steve Openshaw went on to win the fishery's Saturday match with a carp-based 44-4-0.

George Mitchell won the Mickle Trafford AC match fished locally on the Meadow Fishery, taking a brace of rainbows to weigh 6-10-0.

That haul included the best fish on the day. Both weighed 4-0-0 and were taken to a cat's whisker.

Shaun Sandham did the double in the week's Tuesday Rovers AC matches, both of which were fished on the Milton Green Fishery.

Shaun was top rod in the club's Tuesday match, taking carp to weigh 33-0-0 to beat Wendy Locker (29-0-0) and Phil Crimes (28-8-0).

He triumphed in the Thursday match with carp to 19-0-0.

Steve Andrews dwarfed the opposition to win the Ellesmere Port British Legion AC match on the Milton Green Fishery.

His 50-12-0 haul was too good for nearest challenger Andy Fletcher (9-10-0).

Fisheries reports Lake Hill: Tony McGibbon of Chester netted the top fish of the week - a 7-8-0 rainbow taken to ledgered worm. Fred Dutton from Ellesmere Port coaxed a 6-0-0 rainbow to a mepps spinner.

Meadow: Eric O'Callaghan of Upton tempted a 5-0-0 rainbow to a white lure.
