SQUASH: IN a match of high quality, Chester RUFC continued their fine run of form with an excellent 4-1 victory over relegation-threatened Liverpool.

Sarah Kippax gave them the perfect start, dominating Liverpool's Steve Harding to win 3-0 and put Chester one up. Currently ranked 41 in the world and clearly destined for better things on current form, Sarah's movement around the court surprised her opponent, who finished the match exhausted.

Drewe Williams also produced an excellent performance to reverse an earlier defeat by Graham Slatter to put Chester two up. Following extra work in the gym, he seems to have got over his Achilles injury and was most impressive in his 3-0 victory.

As usual, Chester's captain Jonathan Clark was flying in the first game, to overwhelm his Scottish international opponent Colin Hamilton, who fought back to earn a big lead in the second game. But he was unable to stem the flow, as Clark struggled through 3-0 to confirm the bonus points for Chester.

Liverpool's top two professionals were expected to cause problems for the Chester professionals, but Chester's David Campion had other ideas and, in an extremely clinical and controlled display, he kept his younger opponent, Ashley Flathers, on the back foot to clinch an unexpected 3-0 win to put Chester four up.

Possibly the league's best player, Liverpool's Marcus Berrett, then produced one of the performances of the season. His first rally in his match with Chester's world number 57, Alistair Walker, lasted over 100 shots.

He then sent his opponent to all four corners of the court to clinch Liverpool's only points of the night.

Chester face two away matches before finishing their campaign at home to Rochdale. Dragons hosted mid-table Bromborogh without skipper Brian Meehan and number one Damien Brown, and they lost 3-2.

They were 3-0 down before Giles Cook and Phil Noble made the result more respectable with 3-1 victories.

The seconds slumped to a 4-1 defeat against Bromborough seconds, Bernie Spaven providing their only success, while the thirds beat Heswall seventh 4-1.
