WINSFORD Bottom Flash open last Saturday was won by Terry Kettle with 29lb 11oz, writes John Stubbs.
Anthony Edge took second with 14lb 2oz and Keith Fray 11lb 2oz.
Saturday's match was won by Kevin Ashurst with 11lb 2oz. Second spot was filled by Brent Pierpoint with 6lb 9oz and Terry Kettle took third with 5lb 2oz.
Barry Jennions sorted the men from the boys in the Rudheath Social Club's Flash series with 37lb 10oz of bream and skimmers off sandbank peg 12. Ally McLeod was second off end 15 with 21lb 8oz. Kenny Taylor was third with a level 18lb.
For the D Anglers on Friday at Top Flash, John Sudlow put 41lb 6oz on the scales for top spot. Second was Brent Pierpoint with 37lb 12oz. John Stubbs took third with 22lb 13oz.
Winsford Veterans top rod at Border Fisheries' Meridian was Alan Thompson with a level 24lb, Eric Moore took second spot with a level 18lb and myself with 17lb 12oz. Section winners were Ted Isherwood 16lb, Ian Shaw 15lb 8oz, Ray Hamlett 14lb and Graham Massey 12lb 10oz.
For the Winsford Veterans on the Aerosol and Meadow Island last week, top rod was John Sudlow with 10lb 7oz, second was Doug Maddock with 6lb 5oz and Ian Shaw third, 6lb 5oz.
Northwich open had 26 rods on the Oak Tree length last Saturday. Top man was Dave Edgely, second Neil Martin, third Graham Edgely. Doug's Monday night series was won by Rick Moss with 7lb 8oz. Brian Hawkins took second with 6lb 15oz, Andy Hamlett took third with 5lb 3oz .
Winsford AA Trophy match on the National saw Steve Walton take top spot with 9lb 15oz, second Alan Birch-all 7lb 15oz, third Keith Smith 6lb 9oz. Friday 'D' Anglers Border Fisheries match lake. nAnother busy week for Barnton & Frodsham AC's match anglers started on the River Weaver at Saltersford with the second match in the Appleton Thorn AC Cup Monday Evening series.
First was Chris Hargadon who used a tip rod to cast a groundbait feeder to the far side, with worm and corn as his hook baits, to land seven bream to 3lbs, plus 'bits', for a total weight of 16-10-0. Second was Craig Brewin with 12-4-0 of bream, roach, and skimmers, all taken on tip-fished red maggot. Dave Cowley was third with 10-0-0 of bream and skimmers.
On Wednesday morning the Club's veterans were at Heesom's Pool for the first match in the William (Bill) Haddock Trophy series. John Dudley put 18-12-0 on the scales to claim the win. Arthur Kenney, peg 7, also put in a fine performance to take second with a mixed bag of 17-1-0. The pay out was completed by Bob Hughes, peg 13, with 14-1-0 of skimmers, roach and crucians.
The second round of the Wednesday Evening Series was held on the River Weaver at Anderton where Arthur Kenney took the maximum points on offer with 7-14-0 of roach, skimmers and chub, plus a bream of around 3lbs, all taken on pole-fished bronze maggot at 8 metres off peg 35. Second was Peter Robinson, who landed a bream, small roach and skimmers for 4-9-0. In third was Chris Hargadon with 3-11-0.
On Sunday, the Club held its annual John Burdett Memorial match to raise £113 for St Luke's Hospice at Heesom's Pool. Heading the field was Mick Cowley on peg 48. Mick presented corn and pellet on the deck at 6m to put together a net of quality skimmers and crucians that weighed-in at 18-1-0 at the 'all-out'. In the runner-up slot was Mike Appleton, peg 26, with an all-skimmer net of 17-6-0, all tempted by caster at 9m. Calvin Tagg filled third place with 14-6-0 from peg 2.
