KARTING kids from Tarporley revved into action for the latest round of their racing series. The team from Tarporley High competed at Beccles, Suffolk, in the NatSKA competition.

In the Class 15 (Rotax Max), Tarporley had one entry in a field of 19 karts – but Connor Bailey fought his way through after early handling problems and ended up second in the 162kg weight category.

In Class 7 (Junior TKM), Tarporley managed to fill five of the top 10 places from an overall field of 29. Jack Lister was first, Steven Duke third and Florrie Kirby fifth.

In Class 14, which is for 85cc two-stroke Raket engines, Tarporley drivers did exceptionally well, filling the top three positions in a field of 13. Kurt Roberts won and was followed by Harry Jones in second and Amy Duke in third.

The next NatSKA event the club will be competing in will be at Whilton Mill, near Daventry, on June 8.

Club members meet at Tarporley High School every Wednesday 7pm-9pm, during term time. Contact Howard Malyon on 07887 626320.
