FABIO Capello and Sir Geoff Hurst cast their eyes over the talented youngsters of Castrol FC under 9s at Wembley Stadium.

Castrol had won the McDonald’s Football Festival in Ellesmere Port and earned the right to join other regional winners at Wembley for training and small-sided games.

The youngsters received expert tuition from McDonald’s head coach Eric Harrison – the former Manchester United youth team boss who nurtured the talents of David Beckham then took part in mini-tournaments under the watchful gaze of England coach Capello and 1966 World Cup winner Hurst.

Manager Darren Green insists it was a dream come true for his young troops.

“All the boys were excited to meet the England manager Fabio Capello and Geoff Hurst is an England legend,” said Green.

“It was a great day. They all learned new skills and throughout the day improved their game in the amazing surroundings of Wembley Stadium.”

The McDonald’s National Football Festival aims to boost the standard and availability of qualified coaching for young players.
