JENNY Tinmouth is aiming to build on her best performance of the season when she competes at Oulton Park this weekend, writes Paul Hassall.
The 28-year-old from Whitby is gearing up for her 'local' track in buoyant mood after clinching ninth place in a British 125cc GP Championship race at Knockhill, Fife.
Race ace Tinmouth, who works at the Two Wheel Workshop on Westminster Industrial Park, overcame engine troubles in qualifying last weekend to surge her way up the grid for her best result of the season.
'I'm really happy with how it went at Knockhill. It was definitely my best performance of the season,' said Tin-mouth, who qualified in 18th place on the grid after her bike seized on her second qualifying lap.
'I was a bit worried at the start of the race because the radiator was leaking a bit, but it didn't cause me any problems. I had a new clutch too which really helped me get off to a good start and everything went well - for a change!'
Tinmouth's success continues to see her profile rise and, despite competing on an inferior bike in almost exclusively all-male fields, she is targeting further improvement at Oulton Park.
She said: 'My aim at the start of the season was to finish in the top five at some point this season and it would be great to achieve that at Oulton Park.
'I get a lot of local support there and I am really hoping I can get another high placed finish.'
