Jenny Tinmouth believes she will be stronger during the 2016 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship thanks to the experience gained last season.

The 37-year-old from Ellesmere Port became the first woman to compete for a factory team in the championship when she signed for Honda Racing. Although she did not score a point, Tinmouth clocked up a number of personal bests and her deal with Honda has been renewed for 2016.

Following the winter break, Tinmouth and team-mates Dan Linfoot and Jason O’Halloran are now in Spain to start an extensive pre-season testing programme aboard the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade.

The team will spend five days in Monteblanco before travelling to Almeria for two days and then returning to the UK to continue development ahead of the official championship tests at Silverstone and Donington Park at the end of the month.

Chester-born Tinmouth said: “I’ve been working hard and training to prepare for this season over the winter and have been out on my mountain bike a lot exploring Wales which has been mega, but I am looking forward to getting back on the superbike now.

“It’s great as I’m walking back into the same team so we can get started straight away, as I know the Fireblade and the team, so we can pretty much pick up from where we left last year.

“I’m happy to be back with the Honda team for another year, I learnt so much last year and I’m happy I broke a lot of personal lap records, so for 2016 it’s all about putting what I learnt into practice and working my way up.”

Monteblanco will be the first time all three Honda riders have been on-track together since last August, when O’Halloran’s championship hopes were dashed following an accident at Thruxton, which ruled him out for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Before signing for Honda, Tinmouth, whose work as a stunt double on the Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation movie starring Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner has earned her a nomination for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards, competed as a privateer, funding her own team through sponsorship. She made history when she became the first female rider to score a Superbike point.

The first round of the 2016 MCE British Superbike Championship takes place at Silverstone in April while Tinmouth will be racing in her home county when the series visits Outlon Park over the May Bank Holiday weekend and the weekend of September 9.
