MOTOR SPORT: RACE ace Jenny Tinmouth is hoping an internet deal will help her progress in the British 125gp Championship table.

The 27-year-old, who competes in virtually all-male fields, has joined www.adopt-a-racer.org.uk in an attempt to raise funds.

Jenny, from Ellesmere Port, said: 'I damaged the cylinder of my piston at Thruxton in the second round and it was totally destroyed after the third round. It's the most critical part of the bike for topend speed but would cost £1,400 to replace, which I can't afford. I'm relying on the generosity of another racer to lend me one.

'Ideally, I need a new part if I'm going to be competitive. In the last round at Oulton Park, I was up against a bike that should have only been 1mph faster than mine, but you could see the difference on the straights. I want to be regularly scoring points and challenging for the top-10, but it won't happen unless my equipment improves.'

Jenny will head to Dublin tomorrow for Sunday's fifth round at Mondello Park.

You can help Jenny upgrade her equipment by donating as little as £10 a month. Visit www.adopt-a-racer.org.uk for details.
