CYCLING: MILES Jenkins of Chester Road Club has been crowned as senior champion of the Liverpool Time Trials Cycling Association.

His average speed over 25, 50, 100 miles and 12 hours gave him an aggregate of 21.264mph to pick up the Pat Walsh Memorial Trophy and LTTCA medal.

Runner-up was Ian Hawkins of Birkenhead North End CC, the 2001 champion, with an average of 21.073mph.

Miles also led Chester Road Club to the J S Cunningham trophy as best team in the Anfield 100, supported by Keith Nield and Dave Towell.

The Middle-Distance Championship went to Peter Ware of St Helens CRC with runnerup James Stewart of Kirkby CC, who took the junior championship for the fastest two times over 25 miles - 56.45 and 55.07.

Stewart has also won the British Best All-Rounder junior title and the season-long Rudy Project series, plus the Kirkby Track League, riding against the top seniors.
