TOM James has been back on home waters this week - to tune up for the University Boat Race with his Cambridge crewmates.

The 153rd race takes place on the River Thames a week tomorrow and former King's School pupil Tom, the Cambridge president, has brought the crew to Chester for some all-important pr actise.

Based at The King's School Rowing Club's boathouse, the Light Blues have been training hard on the River Dee in a bid to make sure Oxford don't claim a third successive win next Saturday.

Wrexham-born Tom, 22, took part in his first Boat Race in 2003 when he was only 19. The 2004 Olympian has been on the losing side three times since then and this year's event is his final chance to finish a winner.

Cambridge's 'Goldie' crew have also been on the Dee this week and they feature another King's old boy - David Billings.
