WINSFORD ASC back-stroke specialist James Cowburn finished third in the 100m junior final at the British Championships at Manchester in a personal best time of 59.62.

Cowburn also contested the 200m senior final and finished 10th in another pb of 2-07.01.

Clubmate Lydia Woodward also swam at the event and clocked a pb 29.15 in the 50m freestyle. Meanwhile, Winsford won a total 41 of medals at the Cheshire Championships.

They included 12 gold, 20 silver and 19 bronze from the five day event.

Furthermore, at the concluding events at Macclesfield,Winsford's youngsters recorded 63 personal bests from 85 races contested.

Abbie Henderson (2mins 29.8 100m IM), Jessica Gallimore (35.34, 50m back-stroke) and Joanna Waterman (38.71, 50m breast-stroke) were gold medallists.

Waterman, Henderson, Katherine Edgar, Callum Chapple, Lydia Woodward (2), Sarah Marsh, picked up silver medals with Woodward (2), Ashley Walton, Gallimore, Vicky Cunningham and Edgar all receiving bronze.
