ICE HOCKEY: Flintshire Freeze return to action on Sunday with an ENIHL (Northern Conference) visit to Sheffield Spartans.

The Deesiders are sixth in the league, eight points away from the play-off positions.

Coach Gary Shaw knows there's plenty of work to be done in the second half of the season if they are to get in to the top four, but he was buoyed by their performances in the league cup prior to the festive break.

The Freeze's first home game of 2006 - at the Deeside Ice Rink - is on Sunday, January 15 against rock-bottom Newcastle Vipers.
