ANGLING: JAMIE Hughes, of Willaston AC, had a rod-bending session in the Lingmere Fishery open match, taking the honours with a 60lbs mixture.

His haul was twice as heavy as runner-up Robbie Woods, who also had a mixed catch, and Dave Randles was third with 26lbs.

Top in the club's Saturday match was John Armour with a carp-based 42lbs 4 oz.

Craig Swain led the field at Caldy AS match at Lingmere with 41-1-0 carp, well ahead of John Ingram's 21-14-0 mixture and Paul Robinson's 15-9-0.

Victory in the Manley AC match at Old Hall Farm went to Barry Higgins with 5-10-0 of carp and tench, from Peter Cooper and Mark Davies who both had 5-8-0 of bream and tench.

Members of Lobol AC went to priory pool for their Wednesday match last week and the winner was Geoff Selby with 10-7-0 of skimmers and ide. Tom Courtney was next with 7-12-0 tench, ahead of Maurice Malloy with 5-7-0.

Their Sunday match was on the SU Canal at Waverton where Courtney landed 3-7-0 of roach and skimmers to beat Selby's 3-5-0 and Ron Hill's 2-9-0, including a 2-7-0 bream.

Sunday's venue for Saltney Social AC was the Hampton Springs rock pool and Andy Williams came out on top with a 26-8-0 mix, beating Cyril Knobbs with 16lbs of tench and carp and Mike Burgess with 13-10-0.

Phil Roberts delivered in the Royal Mail AC match at Oakhanger Mere with 7-2-0 of carp and barbel, ahead of Charlie Cooke's 7-1-0 of carp and Bob Carvelle's 5-13-8 carp.

The bailiffs at the newly-opened Ruddy Pond fished a match and Jim Bewley won with 47-13-0 of carp and tench, ahead of Andy Noones with 32-0-2 and David Cree with 27-12-0.

Members of Malpas AC went to Egerton Farm lake and Bert Roberts found 6lbs of carp and perch to beat Cyril Roberts's 3-6-0 and Alan Jones's 2-11-0.

Tom Hardy led the field at the end of the Neston Match Anglers' fixture at Cheshire Fishery with 12-8-0 bream. Ian Evanson had 6-8-0 of carp and roach and Les Hall landed 6-2-0.

Phil White topped the Piper AC match at Hampton Springs with 11-14-0 of carp, beating Mike White's 11-7-0 and Martin Berisford's 4-3-0.

Rod 'N' Reel's Tony Dean took top spot in the Weaver open match at Hartford with 43-2-0 of bream.

Tarporley went down in their first-leg match against Wyche AA at Hickory Hollows, putting 48lbs on the scales to Wyche's 92lbs. Top weighers for Tarporley were Cliff Wakefield with 13-3-0 of crucians, Roy Garton 13-10-0 and Ian Roberts 11-6-0.

Terry Archer was the leader in the Helsby Sports and Social Club AC match at the BICC pools with 10-13-0 of chub and bream. Chris Hargadon had 6-6-0 of roach and Malcolm Lightfoot landed 4-6-0.

A catch of three tench weighing 12-14-0 gave Ron Evans the lead in the Grosvenor Estates AC match at Eaton Hall, followed by Brian Summerville with a 3-9-0 tench and John Mort who had a 0-6-0 of perch.

Mickle Trafford AC cast their lines at Dearnford Hall where Kevin Quayle won with a 5-11-0 brace of rainbows to black and red buzzer. Richard Roberts followed with a 5-1-0 brace and Mike Hague was third, 4-15-0.

A 5lbs bream boosted Dave Bampton's winning weight to 20-10-0, including barbel and chub, to win the Greyhound, Saughall AC match on the Severn at Emstrey.

Bob Thelwell took the honours in the Wirral Borough AC match at Blundells Fishery with 4-12-0 of roach and eels, beating Pete Canavan's 3-8-0 of bream and Bill Gore's 3-2-0 of roach and perch.

A 4lbs chub taken with his first cast helped Trevor Roberts to victory in the Railway, Barrow AC match on the Dane at Middlewich. Adding a 1-4-0 roach boosted his total to 13-9-0, more than enough to beat Bob Ruscoe's 11-2-0 and Alan Done with 7-2-0 of barbel and chub.

The Willaston AC open match on the Egg Bridge length of the SU Canal at Waverton went to Phil Harvey with 14-7-0 of bream and roach. Jamie Hughes took 8-3-0 of roach and skim-mers and Dave Griffiths 7-10-0.

Mark Greasley topped the weighers in the Chester Police AC match at Meadow View fishery with 29-8-0 of carp, skimmers and a 1-8-0 eel. Alan Roberts was close behind with 29-4-0 and John Booth third with 22lbs.

Wendy Locker won the Tarvin Sands AC Tuesday open last week at Cheshire Fishery with 35-12-0 of carp and skimmers, from Shaun Sand-ham's 36lbs and Ray Iball's 31lbs.

Thursday's match went to Les Pick-en with 46-12-0, ahead of Steve Norman's 27lbs and Brian Trow's 21lbs.
