LUCK was not on Deeside Ramblers Ladies’ side as they lost 2-1 at Nelson & Pendle Forest Sports Club on Saturday to stay bottom of North Women’s League Premier Division.

A well-worked penalty corner was finished off by Becky Andrews to bring Deeside level, but they could not get the second goal their play deserved – profligacy which was punished when the hosts scored what turned out to be the winner.

Ramblers men’s 7ths were nowhere near as wasteful as they won 7-0 at home to Southport 2nds to stay second in North West League Division Three.

Inspirational captain Phil Williams (3), Ed Lowe, Guy Fennel, Will Lemen and the returning Mike Williams got the goals.

Deeside’s table-topping men’s first team return to National League Conference North action at second-placed Leek on Sunday (2pm).

New players are welcome to attend Deeside Ramblers’ ladies training sessions on Tuesdays from 7-9pm at their Tiverton home. See www.drhc.co.uk for further details.
