CHESTER’S miserable run of form continued with a 3-1 loss to the hands of Whitley Bay.

After making the long trip north, Chester struggled to take control during the first 10 minutes and were quickly on the back foot after conceding a penalty corner.

Shortly after the opening goal, the momentum shifted and Chester started to create opportunities.

A breakaway goal by the home side made it 2-0, before Simon Jones’s audacious flick halved the deficit and gave Chester a foothold.

The visitors continued to pile on the pressure and looked the better side, but a swift counter-attack led to a third goal for the hosts and meant Chester left empty-handed.

Elsewhere, the men’s 4ths went down 2-1 to Macclesfield 2nds.

Mike Cooper equalised after Macclesfield took an early lead, but Chester could not make further pressure count and Macclesfield scored again to take the points.

Richard Young had a superb game for the men’s 5ths, scoring four goals as they beat Northop Hall 3rds 8-1.

Jon Feeney, Geoff Hall, Mark Blackie and Dafydd Jones also making the scoresheet.

The 1st team’s final game before the Christmas break will be a home clash with Sheffield Hallam on Saturday.

The 2nd team will play Wigan 1sts away and the 3rds will host Southport 2nds. Both matches are at 2pm on Saturday.
