A FINE 3-2 win at home to Bowdon means Deeside Ramblers will finish top of their group in the English Boys Under 14s Championship.

The Ramblers starlets cannot be caught in North League Two after the vital victory and they can now look forward to taking part in the regional final in Leeds in April.

Dan Verity (2) and Matt Steventon got the goals against Bowdon.

Verity had hit a hat-trick as the club’s Badgers won 7-4 at Lymm Boys Badgers the previous day. William Dodd-Moore and Will Hunt completed the scoring.

Ramblers 2nds lost a blood-and-thunder clash at home to North League Division Two (West) high flyers South Cheshire 4-1.

Callum Guy scored a superb short-corner strike to reduce the arrears while the home team’s commitment was personified by Adam Dunbavand, who left the field with bloodied knees and knuckles and an ice pack on his shoulder.

Ramblers 7ths stopped the rot in North West League Division 10 South by drawing 2-2 at home to relegation rivals Alderley Edge 5ths.

Tom Ellis and Ian Forster were on target for the hosts, for whom Mike Verity was the star performer.

Deeside Ladies 3rds recorded a 4-0 Cheshire Women’s League Division Four win at home to Timperley Ladies 4ths. Alice Pimm (2), Laura Chester and Sophie Caldwell did the damage.
