THERE was a Hallowe’en treat for Chester 2nds on Saturday as they romped to a 9-0 home victory over Nelson & Rossendale.

A Nathan Hodgson double and powerful strike from captain Rob O’Gorman set Chester on their way to a comfortable and much- needed North West League Division Two success. Michael Howard, Matt Guilder, George Wilkinson and Duncan Feldman then got in on the act before Tom Fairbairn completed the scoring with an exquisite flick.

The seconds are away to high-flying Wigan on Saturday while Chester’s first team play host to Lytham St Annes in North League Division One, a match in which they will bidding to bounce back following their 5-0 loss at Sheffield University Bankers 2nds on Saturday.

Chester 3rds enjoyed better fortunes, winning 7-1 at home to Neston South Wirral 3rds in North West League Division Five South.

P Stringfellow (2), A Murphy (2), A Patterson and H Shaw (2) did the damage for third-placed Chester, who make their way to fourth-placed Bramhall 2nds on Saturday.

Chester 4ths entertain Oxton 4ths as leaders of Division Six South after Nicholas, Hargreaves, Selby and Lee fired them to a 4-2 success at Rhyl 2nds on Saturday.

Chester Ladies slipped to their fourth straight North Women’s League Premier Division defeat in going down 4-2 at home to Bowdon 2nds.

Chester are at home to fellow strugglers Pendle Forest on Saturday.

Deeside Ramblers crashed out of the England Hockey Men’s Cup third round on Sunday after losing 2-1 at home to National League Conference East leaders Old Loughtonians.

Skipper Ali Ghazanfar netted for the Ramblers, who return to Conference North action on Sunday at home to Sheffield University Bankers.

Deeside 2nds continue to lead the way in North West League Division Two and they travel to Macclesfield on Saturday on the back of their 9-2 home cruise over Timperley 2nds.

Ramblers 3rds were also in free-scoring form on Saturday as they condemned Southport 2nds to a 9-0 Division Three defeat.

Captain Phil Winward (2), Ed Lowe (2), Pierce Fielding, Kieran Harris, Tim Diggle and Richard Jones shared the strikes for the second-placed visitors, who host Morecambe on Saturday.

Deeside 7ths are also going well in Division 10 South and they go into their derby with Chester 7ths in confident mood following a 3-0 victory at Timperley 5ths on Saturday given to them by the tireless Miles Lewis, Nick Fernall and Lucas Pollard.
