THE borough's young hoop stars are getting ready to go for glory.

Ellesmere Port & Neston Borough Council, in partnership with the Cheshire Oaks Sport Partnership and Ellesmere Port Panthers, are organising and hosting the finals of the Primary School Basketball League, which will be played on three days this month.

Eight teams from across the borough have been competing at the Hub to win through to the finals.

Michelle Aspden, youth sport development officer, said: 'The competition so far has been a huge success with the young people having the opportunity to develop their basketball skills, and being inspired to take part in basketball outside school.

'Ellesmere Port Panthers must be thanked for their committed support in delivering this programme, as should Cheshire Oaks Sport Partnership.'

The teams who will be competing in the finals on March 15, 22 and 29 will be: The Acorns Primary School, Woodfall Junior Primary School, Childer Thornton Primary School, Mansfield Primary School, St Winefred's Primary School, St Bernard's Primary School, Little Sutton Primary School and Our Lady's Catholic Junior School.
