ATHLETICS: Hayley Jones, of Vale Royal AC, won her fourth national title this year with a stunning victory in the Under 17s 300m at the AAA Championships at the Alexander Stadium at the weekend.

The sprinter won the English Schools title over the same distance and won the age group indoor 200m at the start of the season.

She also represented England at the schools home internationals and won double gold, over 300m and the relay.

Clubmate Stevie Stockton was fifth in a high quality U17s 3,000m field in 10mins 6secs, knocking six seconds off her previous best.

A third Vale Royal athlete with a top five finish was triple jumper Hanna Hewitson who was fourth in the U17s with a jump of 11.35m. She missed the bronze medal by a mere five centimetres.

Hartford High pupil Laura Lambert ran 2mins 16secs in the 800m but did not reach the final. Lee Davenport clocked 50 seconds in the 400m and also did not qualify.

Glenn George finished in the main group in the U17s 3,000m final.
