RUNNING: POOR weather failed to dampen spirits as South Cheshire Harriers had their largest ever turnout of nearly 300 runners for an event at South Cheshire College on Sunday. Jones (40:37); Matthew Lewis (42:42); Robert Bonson (42:43); Jonathan Bradley (42:47); Sheila Bicker-ton (45:35); Steven Hay (45:39); Samantha Blanchflower (46:35); Rebecca Barlow (48:34) and Jane Aliane (54:28).

Although many turned out in fancy dress, the Family Fun Run was just as competitive, with 13-year-old Stephen Duckers crossing the line first in a superb time of 18 minutes 15 seconds.

Rachel Prince (31:37) made her race debut for the Harriers while Sylvia Smallwood recorded a time of 31:38.

A Harriers spokeswoman said: 'We would like to thank everyone for their support, in particular Eric Swan and the Wistaston residents for all their help.'

The Air Products 10km Road Race and 5km Family Fun Run proved a popular Easter activity.

The 10km race was won by Jason Ward from Altrincham AC in a time of 30 minutes and 45 seconds.
