ATHLETICS: UNDER 13 boys and girls teams from Halton and Frodsham Harriers excelled in the North West League Final at Kingsway Leisure Centre in Widnes.

The competition was very tough but both teams performed superbly.

Although team honours went to the girls, Ryan Davies struck a blow for the boys as the Harriers' only gold medallist on the day - in the speed bounce.

The girls finished third overall - a brilliant achievement considering the high quality of teams they were competing against.

The Harriers' line-up was Amelia Connor (two-lap, vertical jump, long jump, relay); Aoife Haymer (six-lap, triple jump, speed bounce); Katie Baker (four-lap, speed bounce);

Emma Percival (vertical jump); Meggie Parry (fourlap, long jump); Sam Fraser (long jump, shot, relay); Sam France (six-lap, speed bounce, relay); Corrinne Swash (two-lap, triple jump, shot, relay) Amelia Connor won a silver medal for two-lap and a bronze in the vertical jump, Aoife Haymer claimed a silver for speed bounce while Corrine Swash took silver in the standing triple jump.

The relay team of Amelia Connor, Corrine Swash, Sam France, Sam Fraser and Aoife Haymer (relay manager) also came in third.

The boys finished sixth overall.

Considering they were all in the lower end of the age category, this was a fair placing and they will now be looking forward to next year.

The team was David Tomalin (two-lap, vertical, speed bounce, relay); Mark Coman (four-lap, triple, vertical, relay); Will Conway (two-lap, long jump, shot); Andrew Perry (six-lap, triple, long jump, relay); Ryan Davies (four-lap, speed bounce, long jump, relay); Nathan Dawson (six-lap, long jump, shot).
