HELSBY Golf Club’s new captains braved the wind and the rain to drive into office.

The captain for 2013 is Brian Prince from Cuddington.

Brian has been a member of the Towers Lane club for 18 years.

Brian, a member of the Chartered Institute of Builders and recently retired after 50 years in the industry, will raise money for Frodsham-based charity Will to Work in his year in office.

Jarmila Lee is Helsby’s new ladies captain.

She was born in Czechoslovakia and moved to the UK to work in the fashion industry and now lives in Barrow.

Jarmila, a member for 32 years, has her name on the Helsby honours boards and also represents the club in the West Cheshire League Shield competition.

Her chosen charity for the year is Breast Cancer Research.

Simon Pay is the club’s new junior captain. His proud parents and brother Jordan are also Helsby members.

Brian, Jarmila and Simon were joined at their drive-ins by club president Alan Lee, a former Helsby captain who is the chairman of the hugely successful Powered Wheelchair Appeal which, over the last 30 years, has provided 308 powered wheelchairs to local youngsters.
