GYMNASTICS: Beth Tweddle collected another international gold medal last weekend as she continued her build-up to the European Championships in Amsterdam in April and the Olympic Games in Greece in August.

The 18-year-old from Bunbury won the asymmetric bars competition in a Grand Prix event at Cottbus, Germany, and will be looking to complete a double at another Grand Prix in Lyon this weekend.

She then faces two European Championships trials, one of which is a match against France at Aldershot on March 27.

Meanwhile, Melanie Roberts, of Saltney, faces her first competition since a serious elbow injury last year.

She represents Wales in the Celtic Cup in Dublin tomorrow week and should be in the Liverpool team hoping to retain the British Team Championship in Guildford on April 3 and 4.

Melanie, who is 15 and goes to St David's High School, is a member of the Great Britain Olympic B squad and hopes to take part in the first Olympic trial in June.
