SQUASH: CREWE Vagrants enjoyed a successful week by winning three of their four league games.

The firsts had a good 4-1 win over Grove Park seconds with Nathan Langley, Paul Driscoll, Jamie Clorley and Gary Colvin coming out on top.

This kept them fifth in the North West League Division Two East ahead of tomorrow night's home game against second-placed Prestbury seconds.

Vagrants' seconds kept up their good form with a 5-0 victory over Grove Park fifths as wins by Oliver Hudson, Al Hughes, Matt Shaw, Paul Spreadbury and Pat Bevan helped them stay second in Division Three South East.

In Division Four South, the thirds defeated Knutsford Sports thirds 4-1, with successes for Gareth Owen, Mark Ormerod, Dave Easton and Dave Skelton, while the fourths went down 4-1 to league leaders Knutsford Sports seconds with a battling performance by team captain Francis Sanders giving them their only victory.

This week, the thirds take on the fourths at Willaston.

Meanwhile, the boys' U17s British Closed Championships were held at the National Squash Centre in Manchester at the weekend with Vagrants' number one Nathan Langley doing exceptionally well to reach the semi-finals, where he lost to second-seed Chris Hall after beating England-ranked number four Joel Hind in the quarter-finals.

This weekend, Langley and Oliver Hudson will represent Cheshire in an U17s Inter-County tournament in Durham.
