HALTON and Frodsham Harriers members competed for Cheshire in the Aviva North West regional Fun in Athletics Festival at the Manchester Sports City indoor arena.
The Cheshire team were up against seven other North West teams, with the girls finishing resounding winners of their match and the boys ending in third.
The Cheshire girls were the winners of five of the seven relay events. Harriers’ Jess Wright, being part of the 1+1 relay, won in 22 seconds and in the winning six-lap paarlauff won in 68.6.
Anabelle Kitchen featured in the winning 4x1 relay squad, coming home in 46. Megan McEveley was in the 4x1 hurdles relay squad, finishing in 54.6.
In the grand prix race, Jenny Pyatt helped the team take fourth- place points. Anabelle was third in the standing long jump with 1.94m and in the target throw took 14th place.
Megan had a best of 41 in the vertical jump, winning fifth-place points, and scored 54 in the balance test for ninth place.
Jenny was 17th in the standing triple jump with 4.95m and threw the javelin 14m to take third place.
Jess won the triple jump with an improvement on her personal best with a jump of 6.48m.
The Cheshire boys won three of the track relay events, Frodsham’s Harry Stubbs and Ben Sutcliffe being part of the 4x1 hurdles relay squad that won in 52.7.
In the grand prix, Ben and Jack Peacock were in the team that took fourth place points in 62.
Will Fletcher had a score of 29 in the balance test, taking the points for an equal 17th.
Jack threw the javelin 18m for equal fifth points and had a best of 38 in the vertical jump to finish 12th. Harry, also in the vertical jump, took 15th place with a best of 36 and his 14m javelin throw made 14th place.
Ben was the top scorer for the county in the vertical jump, his best of 41 taking fourth-place points.
