ELLESMERE Port U16s were held to a 4-4 draw by Bradwell in a Cheshire Girls League game they should have won convincingly.

Bradwell took the lead against the run of play and doubled their advantage from a goal Port’s players felt was offside.

But Port netted the goal their play deserved when Sian Clowes latched onto an Emma Gray pass and drove the ball home.

The score became 2-2 soon afterwards as Clowes netted a virtuoso goal, beating three players before dispatching the ball through a ruck of players.

With the wind at their backs for the second half, Port began to apply more pressure and it wasn’t long before Clowes completed her hat-trick.

Goal number four arrived when a shot from Danielle Bentley was parried by the Bradwell keeper and the ball squirmed up into the air to Charlotte Hughes, who jumped highest to head home under pressure from two defenders.

But with the match seemingly won Port, lifted their foot off the gas and let Bradwell back into the game with two goals.
