A TRIO of West Cheshire AC women are hoping for titles in the Borders Road Running League.

Jules Bancroft, Lisa Davies and Mieke Vanesste all made their move at the third round of the series in Prestatyn.

First in was Jules who finished the

5.1-mile course in a time of 36 minutes, 37 seconds for third spot in the over-35 ladies age group.

She is now comfortable in third spot overall in her age category after three rounds.

Lisa posted 38:06 for fourth position in the over-35s for fourth while Mieke was first in the over-45 ladies after completing in 36:45 to rise to third overall in her age group after three rounds.

Liz Stott was the all-important fourth team member for West Cheshire, finishing 10th in the over-40 age group in 40:33 to score team points.

Graham Jenkins headed the West Cheshire men's charge, finishing 16th in 29:21, clear of Graham Earlam (23rd in 29:38), Dave Tiernan (26th in 29:47), Andrew Clague (32nd in 30:12), Russell Kirk (33rd in 30:13), Gary Withers (35th in 30:24), Steve Parker (80th in 32:41), Chris Rhodes (90th in 33:07), Barry Gardner (91st in 33:08), and Stephen Williams (121st in 34:30).

The remaining members of the squad included Alan Littler (122nd in 34:37), John McGill (123rd in 34:39), Patrick Verwer (183rd in 38:36), Alan Cooper (203rd in 40:32) and Charles Thackray (235th in 43:56).

Ellesmere Port Running Club's Steve Crowe finished second in 27:38, just six seconds behind eventual winner Mark Hulmston from Wirral.

The next round of the Borders Road Running League will be hosted by West Cheshire AC at Christleton on Sunday, February 4 (11am start).
