ELLESMERE Port slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Rivacre Park on Saturday as Vauxhall Motors’ Reserves took the Division One derby honours.

Salah Arfaoui and Craig Cairns were the Motormen’s marksmen. The result saw Motors leapfrog their town rivals in the table.

Castrol Social remain in the lower reaches but can take heart from a 0-0 home draw with fourth-placed Marine Reserves.

In Division Two, an Andy Newland strike handed Capenhurst Villa a good 1-0 home win over Maghull Reserves, while basement side Grange Villa triumphed 3-2 at high-flying Heswall Reserves. Keiran Morrin (2) and Sean Johnston got the goals for the Ellesmere Port outfit.

Ellesmere Port Reserves ran riot in Division Three, beating Southport Trinity Reserves 5-1. Mark Baldwin (2), Mark Lake (2) and Adam McNeill netted for the victorious visitors.

Strikes by Chris McNeill and Chris Georgeson were not enough for Capenhurst Villa as they went down 4-2 at second-placed Hale.

This Saturday in Division One, Castrol Social host Halton, Ellesmere Port entertain Maghull, Vauxhall Motors Reserves welcome Runcorn Town.

In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa are at home to West Kirby reserves and Grange host Ashville.
