THERE was a derby defeat for Vauxhall Motors Reserves in the West Cheshire League on Saturday.

They lost 2-0 away to Division One rivals Chester Nomads, whose scorers were Dale Harris and Sam Manton.

In Division Two, Willaston went down 5-3 at Richmond Raith Rovers on Saturday while Capenhurst Villa triumphed 2-1 at Manor Athletic on Monday evening. Kyle Smith and Simon Thelwell-Wilson netted for Cape.

In Division Three on Saturday, Cape’s second string were 2-1 winners at home to AFC Bebington Athletic Reserves. Mike Faeson and Lee Chadwick were the scorers.

Elsewhere, Neston Nomads won 2-0 at Gateacre.

Grace Arms booked their place in the Stan Dukes Cup final on Sunday.

Goals from M Murray, S Griffiths, R Davies and R Sherlock handed them a 4-2 success against A&J Aquatics (T Bolton, S Morgan).

Elsewhere in the Ellesmere Port Sunday League, Westminster drew 1-1 with Woodlands Athletic in the Premier Division. Tom Cardus got the Westminster goal, with Sean Weaver replying.

In Division One, the day’s big winners were Sutton Marquis. They ran out 8-2 winners over Hope Farm Rangers, the goals coming from Paul Butler (2), Pete Bennett (2), Danny Higginson (2), Marcus James and Andy Girett. Paul Jones and Matty Owens replied for Rangers.

FC Saviour’s earned a 4-2 success over Grace Arms Reserves.

Cheshire Yeoman went down 4-2 against Travellers Rest. Steve Brown and Dave Chambers scored for the Yeoman but Travs hit back through Phil Evans (2) and Phil Sailes (2).
