VAUXHALL Motors’ big Christmas double-header fell victim to the big freeze.

The Boxing Day visit of Droylsden to Rivacre Park and yesterday’s trip to Guiseley were both postponed because of frozen pitches.

But with forecasters predicting improved weather for the rest of the week and for the weekend, Carl Macauley’s men are hopeful of a return to Blue Square Bet North action on New Year’s Day when they make their way to Droylsden (3pm).

Motors then entertain Workington on Monday, January 3 (3pm).

Monday’s West Cheshire League Division One programme, including festive matches for Ellesmere Port and Vauxhall Motors Reserves, was wiped out by the weather.

The league resumes on Saturday, January 8.

But there are games in the Ellesmere Port & District Sunday League this weekend.

SH Groves are at home to Sporting Westminster and Woodlands will host Groves Villa in the Stan Dukes Memorial Cup, while in the Kingkab Cup, SCFC 94 entertain WC Direct and Woodlands Athletic travel to Seahorse.
