THE Motormen booked their place in round two of the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night with a hard-fought win over Alsager.
The match was level at 2-2 at the end of normal time, but the hosts won it thanks to a David Roberts brace in extra time.
Alsager had gone ahead in the eighth minute, but Motors’ Keith Smith levelled soon after.
Although the visitors went 2-1 up with 18 minutes to go, Smith struck late on to force extra time.
Then Roberts netted twice to send Motors through – meaning a late penalty from Alsager was nothing more than a consolation.
