SURVIVAL is the target for Vauxhall Motors and they boosted their chances with a second successive 1-0 win on Tuesday night against Northwich Vics.

While the teams below them in Blue Square North, Harrogate and Gainsborough Trinity, have five and four games in hand respectively over the Motormen, it is winning that will keep teams in this division and Motors may be getting into the habit at just the right time.

Motors invited Chester City season ticket holders to attend Tuesday’s game at Rivacre Park for just £5 and were determined to frustrate play-off chasing Northwich.

Skipper Josh Wilson, who scored against Hyde on Saturday, was taken down in the box on 35 minutes against Vics and dead-ball specialist Brian Moogan lashed the ball home.

Now Motors boss Carl Macauley’s attention turns to Saturday when Motors travel to mid-table Corby.

Vauxhall: Coates, Lane, Owens, Egerton, Evans, Holmes, Hannigan, Moogan, Furlong, Grice, Noon. Subs: Wright, Wilson, Noone, Zharir, Smith.

Attendance: 387
