AN incredible effort from Vauxhall Reserves in nightmare circumstances was not enough to earn a reward in their Division One derby clash with Ellesmere Port.

Motors could field only 10 men after two players missed out due to cup commitments, two cried off late and three were involved in a road accident on the way, not making it to the game.

Despite this Motors drew on vast reserves of resolve to give Port something to think about despite losing 4-3.

Steve Scullion (2), Peter McNulty and Darren Toal scored to get Port over the line but credit must go to Motors and their goalscorers Muire, Cairns and McNicholas.

Next door, Castrol Social fell at home to Cammell Laird Res 1-0.

In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa were on the wrong end of a 5-1 drubbing at home to Southport Trinity, Jamie Johnson finding the target for the hosts.

Grange Athletic also failed to make home advantage count, going down 3-0 to Marshalls.

Capenhurst Villa Reserves returned from Mersey Royal with a 2-1 win thanks to efforts from Andy Newland and Joel Senior in Division Three.

Ellesmere Port Reserves suffered a miserable 5-2 defeat at Richmond Raith Rovers, Mark Baldwin and the evergreen Carl Smyth scoring.

Cup weekend held mixed emotions for Great Sutton Ladies as the under 12s reached the quarter finals of the Cheshire Knockout Cup but the U14s bid the competition farewell.

Kasey Tidswell struck twice for Great Sutton’s U12s in their 3-1 win over Vicars Cross.

One goal from Girl-of-the-Match Holly McDonough added the finishing touch.

Great Sutton’s U14s failed to book their place in the semi final, suffering a 2-0 reverse against Sandbach.

A strong Sandbach side struck early to leave Sutton chasing a two-goal deficit.

Sutton failed to convert a myriad of chances and Sandbach held on to claim the victory.

Great Sutton Ladies are currently recruiting players of all abilities for the 2010/11 season.
