Solihull Moors 2 Vauxhall Motors 3
MOTORS bounced back from their midweek defeat to relegation rivals Hinckley United with a stunning victory in the West Midlands on Saturday.
Carl Macauley’s men were heading for a second straight reverse when they fell two goals down inside the first 18 minutes.
But they showed amazing powers of recovery to record a fully deserved win which moved them out of the Blue Square North drop spots.
Mid-table Solihull opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Lee Morris caught the Vauxhall defence napping and fired home.
It got worse for the visitors nine minutes later when debutant Darren Byfield caught Tom Hannigan in possession and squared the ball for Morris to turn in a simple second.
But Hannigan atoned for his error in the 28th minute when he poked the ball home from close range after Mattie Burke flicked on a Dave Mannix cross.
The momentum was now with Motors and Josh Wilson, the league’s player of the month for March, forced home goalkeeper Jasbir Singh into a fine save.
But Wilson was not to be denied. He stroked in his 17th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute after the lively Dan Parkinson had been hauled down in the box.
Vauxhall were now bossing the game and it came as no surprise when they netted what proved to be the winner in the 76th minute.
Kevin Holsgrove showed superb skill on the right wing before crossing to the back post where Parkinson was on hand to slot the ball home.
