MOTORS staged a late smash-and-grab raid at Throstle Nest on Saturday to pocket their third win on the spin.
Captain Mattie Burke grabbed an 88th-minute winner as Carl Macauley’s men put yet more distance between themselves and the relegation places.
Following early pressure from Celtic, Motors broke up the other end and had a goal disallowed on 24 minutes. Burke met a Lee Dames cross at the far post and poked the ball home – only to see his effort ruled out for offside.
On 37 minutes, a ball over the top by Tom Field found the pacy Karl Noon, who put his shot wide with only the keeper to beat.
The second half started promisingly for Celtic with striker Andy Campbell heading against the crossbar before a 30-yard effort from Tom Penford went just wide.
Vauxhall continued to soak up the pressure and their defence stood firm. The Motormen even had some decent chances themselves, hitting Celtic on the break. The most notable effort fell to Field on 75 minutes, his vicious drive from 20 yards forcing keeper Curtis Aspden to save low to his left.
Then with just two minutes to go, Noon produced some good build-up work on the left and put the ball over to Burke, allowing the Motors skipper to slot home a dramatic winner from eight yards out.

Vauxhall are without a fixture this weekend. Their next game is at home to basement side Hucknall Town a week on Saturday.
Motors have been drawn at home against Southport in the FA Trophy. The Sandgrounders have already beaten Vauxhall in the FA Cup and Setanta Shield this season, as well as in the league. The tie will take place on Saturday, November 22 (3pm).
