TWO goals by Phil Coffin were not enough for Ellesmere Port on Saturday as they fell to defeat.

Port lost 3-2 at home to Mossley Hill Athletic and remain bottom of West Cheshire League Division One.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves, who did not play at the weekend, host Mossley at Rivacre Park tonight (7.30pm).

In Division One on Saturday, Willaston claimed a 2-1 home win over Prescot Cables Reserves courtesy of goals by Trevor Worsley and Peter Rutter.

In Division Three, Alex Clare hit five goals for Neston Nomads in their 6-2 demolition of Chester Nomads Reserves. Rob Cottrell scored the hosts’ other goal.

Teams from Ellesmere Port were in action in the Wirral District FA Premier Cup on Sunday.

Thorne Plumbing and Heating cruised into the third round after a 4-0 win at Stirrup S&S. Keith Renshaw, Simon Thelwell, Ian Forster and Lewis Eccles got the goals.

Grace Arms crashed out in extra time, losing 4-3 to Bidston Hotel with goals by Ben Sherlock, Steve Armitage and Nathan Eccelston proving in vain. Lee McPhee scored for Cat in their 2-1 loss to Queen’s Park, while Mark Hampton was on target for Woodlands as they lost 3-1 at Towers FC. A&J Aquajet v Shore Villa was postponed.
