THORNE Plumbing and Heating have moved two points clear at the top of the Ellesmere Port Sunday League.

Goals from G Davidson and D Wainwright gave them a 2-1 victory over Gleve Motors in the Premier Division on Sunday.

Grace Arms, one of the other sides very much in the title race, claimed a 5-2 victory over RWJ Wolverham. N Eccleston, J Watson, M Murray (2) and M Lowe netted for Grace, with J Harden and C Parry (penalty) replying.

Cat are just ahead of Grace in third. They accounted for Wirral Wanderers 5-2 thanks to goals by C Lloyd (2), C Gear, L McTigue and P King. D Hodgson and R Buggy replied for Wirral.

In Division One, Sutton Melfix are top – on goal difference – after Sunday’s 5-0 rout of HopeFarm Rangers. J Livens (2), P Evans, D Lynch and S Sails got the goals.

Old Wirral Hundred, level at the top on points, did their goal difference the power of good with a 7-1 win over Grange Athletic. A Rowlands (2), D Garfield, M Jones (2) and J Norman were the scorers, R Grimes replying. The day’s other Division One game was a thriller as Travellers Rest saw off SCFC94 5-4. I Powell (2), D Lynch, T Taylor and S Atlas netted for the Travs, with S Robinson, S Brown, A Clay and J Gibbs replying.

In round four of the Wirral FA Premier Cup, Woodlands Athletic lost 2-0 to Queen’s Park. The Shore Villa v Westminster tie was postponed.
