MIKE Jones struck twice as Ellesmere Port registered an unexpected 2-0 victory.

They beat Vauxhall Motors Reserves in the Ellesmere Port Derby in West Cheshire League Division One.

Port face Halton at home this evening before taking on title-chasing West Kirby away on Saturday and facing Cammell Laird Reserves, also away, on Monday.

Motors travel to struggling Christleton tonight and are on the road again at championship contenders Runcorn Town on Saturday.

Castrol Social overcame Maghull 2-1 away, Stuart Carroll and Tony Ashton scoring the winning goals after Sam Wilkie hit the target for Maghull.

The Oilmen next face trips to Newton (tonight), Upton AA (Saturday) and Blacon YC (Monday)

In Division Two Capenhurst Villa were on the receiving end of a 3-1 beating by Helsby.

Lee Hammond scored for Villa but efforts from Gary Lunt, Mark Connor and an own goal proved enough to take the points back down the M56.

Villa make the journey to Mallaby on Saturday and Bronze Social on Monday.

Grange Athletic split the points with Poulton Vics Reserves after they finished up 1-1.

Steve Salceda scored from the penalty spot for Grange but Vics benefited from an own goal.

Grange’s next game comes on Monday, April 6 when they face Bronze Social away from home.

Capenhurst Villa Reserves also drew 1-1 with Focus in Division Three.

Jay Johnson’s goal for Villa kept them level after Dave McParland scored for hosts Focus.

Villa Reserves will be welcomed by Mersey Royal this evening before tackling Focus again, this time at home, on Saturday.

On Monday they welcome Pensby.

Ellesmere Port Reserves also drew 1-1 with Hale, Mike Docherty cancelling out John Turton’s strike.

Port Reserves are at home to Manor Athletic on Saturday.
