Hyde United 2Vauxhall Motors 2

A DRAMATIC injury-time penalty from Brian Moogan rescued a valuable and well-earned point for the Motormen at Ewen Fields after Hyde United had looked set to steal all three points.

Motors dominated the first half but it was Karl Noon who broke the deadlock on 38 minutes.

Hyde goalkeeper Jones was unlucky as he had saved Hine’s initial shot but Noon was on hand at the far post to bury the rebound with a rasping left foot strike.

Revitalised Hyde hit back in the second half and equalised on 59 minutes, Dean Stott heading home unmarked from a corner.

On 76 minutes Scott Mooney gave the home side the lead when his deflected shot found the net from 10 yards.

Motors had to wait until the final minute for their chance when Hine was hauled down by Mark Lees in the area.

The game was held up for five minutes as Hyde’s Kevin Holsgrove was treated for cramp and an altercation on the edge of the area between Noon and Ricky Mercer saw Mercer recieve a second yellow card before Moogan scored.

Saturday’s home match with Droylsden will kick off at 1pm following fire damage to control boxes in the Rivacre Park floodlights.

Smoke started coming out of two of the bases of the pylons and one of the pylons caught fire following last Tuesday’s game with Southport.

The lights will be out of action for up to three weeks and Conference officials this week gave Motors permission to bring forward the kick-off time for Saturday’s Blue Square North clash with the Bloods.
