Search for keeper
THERE has been mixed news for Vauxhall Motors on the transfer front.
Boss Carl Macauley is on the lookout for a new keeper after supporters’ player of the season James Coates left to join Blue Square North rivals Northwich Victoria.
Coates was an ever-present for the Motormen last season, making 47 appearances and keeping 12 clean sheets. Macauley is expected to delve into the loan market to replace his departed number one.
On a brighter note, Motors defender Tom Hannigan has signed a new one-year deal. Hannigan thought he may have to leave Rivacre Park after accepting a place at Sheffield University, but Macauley has persuaded him to re-sign.
Admission prices for league matches at Rivacre Park this season have been reduced to £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for students (on production of ID). Under 16s get in free.
The Motormen took on a Blackburn Rovers XI last night, after the Pioneer had gone to press.
